What is New School Programme (NSP)?
New School Program (NSP) is one of the initiatives of Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) which is bringing a substantial change in the remotest areas of Punjab while providing out of school children and poor communities with access to free education. Like other initiatives of PEF, NSP is also working in Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode to deliver free and quality education to the community. NSP has been expanding its partnership particularly with individuals in all 36 districts of Punjab while consistently launching new phases.
Who is eligible to apply for New School Programme (NSP)?
PEF, presently, welcomes the individuals to apply for affiliation with NSP who are permanent residents of the same tehsil for which they are applying for, have age of 21-65 years and minimum qualification of intermediate level, and are not Govt. employee in any capacity (Permanent/ contract). Further, NSP department publishes an elaborated eligibility criteria for potential applicants along with the advertisement of relevant phases.
What is the selection criteria for New School Programme (NSP)?
School against a site is selected where population is approximately 350 individuals and no Govt. /PEF School exists within 1 km radius of the site. Further, Phase-wise merit-based selection is made in light of pre-approved criteria.
What does “out of school child” mean?
A child of school going age i.e. 5-16 Years, as defined by the State, who has never attended any formal educational institution is considered as out of school child (OSC).
What does “drop out” child mean?
A child of school going age i.e. 5-16 Years, as defined by the State, who has once been admitted in any formal educational institution and is not attending the same for the last 3 months (excluding summer vacations) is considered as a drop out child.
What if the school is Un-registered?
The school owner will get his /her school registered with the District Registration Authority within the timeline given by PEF-NSP after entering into partnership with PEF-NSP.
How does Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) disburse funds to the partner of New School Programme?
The payments are made on monthly-basis via online transfer system upon submission of (Online) Monthly Enrolment Update by the Partner within due date.
How does Punjab Education Foundation assure quality of education in New School Programme (NSP)?
Quality of education is maintained through a quality assurance system which is a combination of regular, periodic monitoring and an annual Quality Assurance Test (QAT).
